Hey guys, I bought an identical stick of RAM to what came with my T530. After I installed it in the open slot on the bottom of the laptop, I booted up the computer and immediately got a blue screen. I then tried to start again and it would go to the Windows logon screen but would shut down. I then tried to go to BIOS to make sure the RAM was recognized and it was.
Was the RAM is faulty? Or maybe I installed it wrong? But it did show up in BIOS. What do you guys think?
I'm thinking of maybe ordering another one and seeing what happens. I hope that one works.

Run memtest86 from a bootable CD on your "new" stick - with the old one removed - and report back.
Good luck. -
I just returned the RAM and ordered another of the same kind. I guess I should have done more testing but I sealed it up and its ready to go. I was a bit concerned since this is the first time my T530 ever experienced a blue screen. The laptop wouldn't even boot all the way. Appreciate the reply.

Out of sheer curiosity on my end, what RAM stick exactly are we discussing here?

Its this one:
4GB Samsung DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz SODIMM CL11 204pin Samsung Chip Notebook Memory M471B5273CH0-CK0
Amazon.com: 4GB Samsung DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz SODIMM CL11 204pin Samsung Chip Notebook Memory M471B5273CH0-CK0: Computers & Accessories
It's the same one that came on the laptop so I figured it should pair well. I'm going to assume, maybe right or wrongly, that it was a defective module. -
Hey guys, just wanted to update this thread.
I just received another stick of the same RAM and installed it. It seems to be working just fine. I did a quick scan using the ThinkVantage software and it completed without issues.
Should I run Memtest86 just to be sure? It seems to be running fine. -
I know I would. -

I ran Memtest86 for 1 and a half passes and it came up with 0 errors. However, when I tried to exit out by pressing the ESC key, nothing happened. The testing stopped but it would not exit. I am using an external monitor and keyboard, not sure if that made a difference or not - probably not. But I'm glad it came back with 0 errors.
