    RAM question CL7 VS CL9?

    Hello there I have a choice of 2 X 4 gig RAM modules as:

    7-7-7-20 with CAS latency 7

    and

    9-9-9-24 with CAS Latency 9

    I wish to insert them into a Lenovo X120e. I'd like to know which is faster and why? Thanks so much for the help!

    The simple answer is that the lower the latency, the better, given the same frequency,

    And, more than likely, those two examples given above are for different frequencies. [I would guess that the first is 1066MHz and the second is 1333MHz.]

    That's what my thoughts were.

    It depends on your current RAM and memory controller. If Zacate can only go up to 1066, then by all means, go for the 1066. Though, if your current RAM doesn't have 7-7-7-20 timings, the new RAM will slow itself down.
