    Purchase date: 2/02/10
    Original estimated ship date 2/24/10

    Revised estimated ship date: 4/30/10

Plain vanilla configuration. Does anyone have experience with these terrible ship dates and what might be causing the delay? Thanks in advance!

Probably they're running out of parts and might end up cancelling it anyway. If it's a standard config, you could get it from some reseller.

People use to wait six months or longer back in the day, but it was more of an investment then.

Yup. I waited almost 6 months for my IBM ThinkPad 600 model when they first came out, and it was being purchased by a Fortune 25. And in those days, I had an account exec glued to my side who was jumping through hoops at all times trying to make me happy since I decided what the platform would be for >30k employees.

Then when it finally shipped UPS/FedEx/AirBorne (can't remember - too long ago) lost it in the Christmas rush. It eventually turned up a couple of weeks later.

Honestly, if it's that important to have one now, go to the outlet to get one. You'll probably pay less there anyway. A pre-configure model is another option.

I ordered on the 11th of this month and have an est. ship date of 3/29! Not as bad as yours but I honestly hope they ship it asap. I wonder if anyone else who ordered a Thinkpad recently have ridiculous est. ship dates too...

I ordered a T500 at the beginning of the month and received it in 6 days.

Had a couple of options added also. Given the deals on them now......it's worth the wait.

All these stories about shipping delays makes me wonder... when does warranty start? The day you order? The day it ships? Or the day you receive it?

warranty starts the day the system is built but you can call the warranty department and have it updated to the day you took receipt if the times are vastly different.

I ordered a fully loaded T400 on 2/3/10. The docking station shipped a week later. My estimated ship date on the lappy is hanging tough at 2/26/10 (tomorrow) but reading this thread I'm starting to get worried....

I'll try to cheer up everyone up with extended ships date. Obviously, YMMV.

I ordered a W500 (standard config) on 2/7. At the time the site said "usually ships within 9 business days." So far so good. I get my order confirmation. Jaw drops. Estimated ship date is 3/22. I check the site again. Now it says "usually ships in 4 business weeks." Ouch.

On 2/22 I get email that the order has shipped. UPS tracking web site has it being delivered tomorrow, 2/26. I'll let you know if I actually receive it. If so, Lenovo's estimates are clearly just that, and not very accurate.

yes.   the post you linked was in reference to the time it takes a new system warranty or warranty upgrade showing up in the parts lookup database.

what you've quoted above is in reference to the start date of the warranty itself.

these are two totally different things.   so, yes... i'm sure about that. ;)

    LOL, thanks.

Anybody know any big-shots over at Lenovo.. you know, pull a few strings and make this ship-date stick? :D

I ordered my X200 on Feb 1 with 2 years warranty. Just checked with Lenovo, the warranty expires in March 22, 2012. The same goes for my X61, which was given an extra 1.5 month warranty.

haha, I'm on the same boat, not sure if you ever got your T500 yet or what has updated on it.

However, I just ordered today 3/3/2010 and I have an estimated ship date of 5/10/10, which is absolutely absurd!

But we'll see what actually happens, if I can get a different laptop for an equivalent price with similar or better quality before they ship it then I'll cancel(say if a good sale on a T510 or D6510 comes out).

We just placed a large order at work for 150 machines (mix of 500 and 510's) and were told that Lenovo has stopped production on a lot of items due to the economy. Our sales rep at the company we purchase from was able to find us 10 T500's for the time being and get them shipped to us (though they were a slightly lower spec than we ordered). Who know's when we'll actually get the remaining 140 units

Well I just got bumped to 5/12. Makes me wonder if they even have the parts for these things in.

I might suggest picking one up in the outlet, which should ship faster.

Good alternative and suggestion. However, the inventory is currently lacking and at least for my preferences, a WSXGA+ screen is a must.

What are you talking about? There's WSXGA+ models starting at $600 in the outlet when I looked earlier this afternoon.
