Hi, other than the physical differents, is there any reason to choose one config. over the other. This is for a t60,

    There are pros and cons.

With one dimm you will be able to expand. On the other hand you don't get the advantages of DDR2 in terms of speed.

Yes you do! You still get the exact speed of the ddr2 module. It doesn't just magically downclock itself if there's only 1 dimm...

What yo do lose is dual channel, but that is a 3%-5% difference at most.

The speed differance will be negligeble though. I'd say go with the 1GB, unless 2 512's are much cheaper. But you can get 2 GB ram for $49 these days, so maybe that's an option.

Buy a Single 1 GB DIMM/SODIMM as you ll be able to expand more...if u buy 512 MB then it ll go waste once u expand.

Sooner or later, you will want to upgrade your ram. don't waste what you have right now and get the 1gb in one DIMM.

By only having one DIMM, you'll loose the Dual Channel support, but as mentioned, it's negligible. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference at all. It's definitely worth saving the second DIMM for when you want to upgrade later down the line. And it will happen :).
