I have a thinkpad X60s and randomly the LCD screen video will blank out. The backlights are still active but no image on the LCD. I know this is a general troubleshooting, problem, but i'm hoping someone may have experience this before. The outage is very random and does not seem to be caused by anything in particular.

It could be a loose or broken connection either with the display ribbon cable or the monitor cable hooked onto your motherboard. Unfortunately you will need a repair technician, unless you feel comfortable in disassembling your notebook.

If the backlights are still active but the screen just goes black, it may possibly be a software issue as well. Have you tried updating your display drivers?

try connecting to an external monitor, if the same symptoms are not happening then it's likely a hardware issue.

I have it connected to an external monitor and the lcd on the notebook will go out, but the monitor will still be active. I guess I will take it to a technician so see what they find.
