I debated a long time on 14" standard vs 15" wide, but considering most of the stuff i do is on websites, I am going with the standard even though it has a crappy screen and a bad video card compared to the 15.

I already purchased a 2Gig RAM chip from buy.com for 50 bucks. Debating on the 9cell vs 6 cell battery....any other options I should select or deselect?

    Config:

    ThinkPad T61p
    Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo processor T7500 (2.2GHz 800MHz 4MBL2)
Operating System: Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium
    Display type: 14.1 SXGA+ TFT
System graphics: NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M (128MB Open GL)
    Total memory: 1 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
Hard Drive: 100GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm
Intel Turbo Memory hard drive cache: Intel Turbo Memory 1GB
Optical device: DVD Recordable 8x Max Dual Layer, Ultrabay Slim
Wireless Card: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN (supporting Centrino Pro)
    Bluetooth: Integrated Bluetooth PAN
    Battery: 6 cell Li-Ion Battery

    PRICE: -$ 679.68 off total

Final Subtotal using CPP and 10% Ecoupon: $ 1,138.32

Nice. Pretty much near the spec I ordered on the 15th of this month, only mine's a 15.4", though.

Looks fantastic. A very reasonable config.

    Good choice. :)

Battery choice really depends on how much you use your laptop off the grid.

If your choice of 14" is because you work on websites; well you can resize your browser on the 15.4" laptop to whatever you want. I found the weight increase going to a larger laptop fine by me and like the extra room. I've had both T60 SXGA+ and now a T61p WSXGA+ and prefer the latter.

Otherwise, your config looks ok. I opted for T7300 instead of T7500. I just wanted a 4mb cache, additional .2ghz didn't matter as much to me though.

elfroggo, if you resize your browser then your not effectively making use of the screen real estate given to you....

When I got mine last year, I went with a 9 cell, which with integrated graphics gives me close to 6 hrs or so.

However, if I was to do it again, I'd probably go with a 6 cell, mainly because I use AC for the most part, and don't really need battery power as much as I'd originally thought.

It'd also make it slightly easier to find proper fitting bags & sleeves, or at least that's been my experience.

The 9 cell sticks out one inch at the back. The 6 cell is flush.

I'm using my 15.4" T61p right now and my browser window is roughly sized to non-widescreen format. This leaves some desktop area on the right side so I can have winamp or chat program visible and accessible. I don't see that as not making effective use of screen real estate.

I do the same thing. I love widescreen format for that because I love multitasking and I really like to have two webpages open at once and having them tiled vertically is so much better than tiled horizontally, in my opinion anyways.

I also like to run my games in widescreen format and 1280x800 is the perfect resolution for gaming for me.
