I have a X200 which came with a 2GB Turbo memory installed. To my surprise I noticed that Intel Turbo Memory Console reports ReadyDrive as enabled but ReadyBoost as disabled (factory settings).

As I have heard numerous stories about turbo memory instabilities I am kinda hesitant to enable ReadyBoost. Does anyone have any experience with the settings of turbo memory for the X200? As a side question, why would Lenovo ship the X200 with ReadyBoost disabled?

If you install driver from Lenovo's site then readyboost is disabled but if you install it from intel's site, both are enabled. I am using both on my T400 and i does make a noticeable difference

Well I can just check the checkbox on the Turbo Memory Console and enable ReadyBoost. Are you suggesting that unless i install the Intel site then it won't work? Well I guess I will enable it and keep my fingers crossed that no BSOD havoc doesn't occur ...

So I enabled ReadyBoost in the Turbo Memory Console and the system became totally unstable. After a reboot I went back to the console and what do you know, ReadyBoost was once again disabled! I guess as Parijat suggests this might be solved in a more recent version of the TM driver ...

Should I wait for Lenovo to update the drivers or should I just grab the Intel one? (I guess the same applies on the GM45 as well)

    some questions for you :

How big is the impact of the Turbo memory on the performance of your T400?
did you try user pinning? how is the performance?
is it useful when you get 7200rpm Hard drive?

Its not a huge difference with turbo memory but yes its noticeably fast. The apps I always open, open without lag in a fraction of sec.
I haven't tried user pinning and let readyboost take care of it. Yes 7200rpm drive makes things much quicker to access specially if you copy/move files a lot.

So out of curiosity did you also update other Intel hardware such as the WiFi, graphics etc from Intel's site or do you wait until Lenovo makes it available?
