Does anyone have realtek drivers on their laptops? I upgraded to the ones released on Feb. 24th of this year and while there were bars (go up and down to indicate some sound is being produced) but there was no output in the speaker. My older drivers were giving me the message that realtek driver enhancements (bass boost, loundness correction, dolby etc) were not compatible with windows, so I ended up upgrading them which proved to be a problem. I am now using Microsoft sound drivers right now.

PS One interesting thing is that I was having this problem with my Sony Vaio, but after reinstalling the latest driver version, the problem has gone away. It seems to be a lenovo specific problem. I did a clean install of Windows 7 but that hasn't helped with troubleshooting the realtek drivers.

Yes I did (the older versions from 2010) and it still wouldn't work. I have done one key recovery now and upgraded again to Win 7 ultimate from Vista, so lets see how the new install works out.

The problem that I am having now is that this veriface window appears at startup even though I have deleted the program from Program (x86) folder and also the entry for the startup window. I tried uninstalling Veriface first but it was telling that "you have not installed this program" ?

    UPDATE

I am getting sound now with 2010 drivers from the lenovo site finally, but have lost the enhancements like jazz, normal etc that you can access from the touch buttons above the keyboard. I am wondering if I go back to the 2009 version (R249), will it solve the touch button issue? I guess it means the 2011 drivers don't work for ideapads, since I know they do work when I put them in my Sony vaio.

you need to install slidenav/slidebar and/or one key theater applications to access those functions you mentioned.
