I just came across Lenovo's 10% off sale going on right now until the 30th. I also have a few other discounts through a family member and I want to buy today. However, I am moving out of my current address on January 11th, so the last day I can be here to get it would be the 10th.
On lenovo it says that it will ship within 9 business days. However, I had heard that lenovo builds their systems in china so it could take a few weeks from the time by order has shipped.
Now I can send the system to my parents address. However, I am going to be living in a hotel for about a 7-10 days and cannot have them mail it to me until the 27th of January. Obviously that is not something I want to do.
My main question is whether I should have my order be mailed to my parents or to my current address. I have searched on here and have seen 2-3 weeks, with a more recent thread a guy got his in 7-9 days from when he ordered it. In addition, I have a feeling that lenovo might be backed up because of their end-of-the-year sales going on right now. If this will mean anything for the build time, I will be getting a lenovo x200. I will be ordering in the US. Also keep in mind that the new year is approaching, I know some businesses might close early etc the day before on the 31st/1st, not sure if lenovo will or not, that could impact shipping time.
Also, do we have to sign for the package? My current neighborhood has had alot of packages stolen lately. Lastly, one of the promotions I am getting is free shipping. Im sure they wont but if I ordered with express shipping, would the price of their free standard shipping by subtracted from the express shipping or would I have to pay in full? and how much are the shipping rates for an x200 with a 9 cell battery?
Thanks!

I ordered a Y550 on 22nd and it's shipped today.
a customized one, not the the pre-configured modules.
I am surprised. But definitely, YMMV -
If you want a sure thing, look at tabook, pick a standard configuration, find a reseller who has it in stock and order from them. -
Yeah, the chances of it getting delayed past 9 days is just too large, and it probably isn't worth the issues you'll have getting it sent to your old address.
You should talk to the hotel you're staying at, they might be willing to accept the package for you even if you're not there yet, or after you leave for that matter. -
For any CTO machine, you should really look forward 2 months realistically.

Two months my a**

To the OP, error on the side of caution and either save a quote (good for 30 days) and order once your in a more permanent location or order now to a reliable location. Do not gamble, do you really want to take that chance? I wouldn't with a 1k+ laptop. -
I'm trying to help you and you dis the advice based on people discussing their delays. -
Two months is atypical, bra.
Everyone knows you have a vendetta against Lenovo because you think you were cheated on your LCD. -
I ordered my T400 in September of 08, just fresh off the presses new model. High demand period of time and my 2764-CTO arrived in 2.5 weeks. I don't know how it is now, but 2 months is not the norm.

shipping time really depends on the part availability and shipping schedule. Some people can get a new machine in 4 days, some people get them in like 6 weeks (well they did get a huge discount on them, so beggars can't be choosers).
But my counted average for delivery using credit cards is around 2 weeks to ship to Australian residential address. USA delivery is more complicated, as the shipment can go several routes from several starting points to several destinations. -
Realistic Shipping Time?
