Really Worried about the trackpad. Go for the t430 instead of t440? Or other brand?

I tried the t431s trackpad. I can't stand it. I would misclick and because its so big, my 2 fingers would touch the track pad and cause a miscommunication.

I purchased a t400 a few years ago, but after stepping on the screen(don't ask), it broke. I replaced it, and about 6 months later, it fell off the desk once too many times and it detached from the hinges.

I am thinking to buy the t430 instead of the t440 because of the lack of real improvements and a better trackpad with the t430. Is my concern justified over the trackpad? Does anyone have any inpuit?

I don't need a lightweight laptop or super high performance. Its for surfing and office work. Durabilty is the number one concern. I have used elitebook and the latitude series. They are more expensive, but seem more durable. What are your toughts?

Key question in my opinion is whether you use TrackPoint (in the conventional ThinkPad sense) at all?

How do you have two finger press the touchpad? Many people with MacBook Pro for years haven't had this issue.
How do you misclick? Do you press too hard or do you accidently tap the touchpad?

If the trackpad is a problem for you, try out the Trackpoint/nub. It's way more accurate and there's less strain on fingers/wrists than when using the trackpad. Also, if your main tasks are office work and surfing the internet, a relatively cheap Thinkpad (refurb or used from outlet or eBay) or an older model (T61) might be a better choice financially.

I had three same problem when I used the t431s. It was a bit of hit and miss with track point clicks. Might be improved now. If you don't use the touch pad at all you can disable touch pad like ibmthink suggested and the whole surface should register track point clicks.

I don´t understand your problem. How exactly do you misclick with 2 fingers on it?
