Hey, I'm going to be purchasing a ThinkPad T60p. I've got the specs and price all chosen, here's the setup :

    Processor: Intel Core Duo processor T2500 (2GHz, 2MB L2, 667MHz FSB)
Operating system: Genuine Windows XP Professional
Display type: 15.0 inch UXGA (1600x1200) TFT Flexview
    Memory: 1GBMB PC2-5300 CL5 NP DDR2 SDRAM SODIMM
Graphics: 256MB ATI Mobility FireGL V5200
Hard drive: 100GB 7200rpm SATA Hard Drive
Optical device: 24x/24x/24x/8x Max CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Ultrabay Slim
Integrated WiFi wireless LAN adapters: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Mini-PCI Express Adapter
Integrated wireless WAN: Verizon Sierra CDMA2000
Battery: ThinkPad 9 Cell Li-Ion Battery
USB ports: 3 USB 2.0 (back)
Security: Embedded Security Subsystem 2.0 and Integrated fingerprint reader

I'm mainly just getting confused with the warranty information. I live in the USA currently, but I am moving to London, UK in around a month. I'd like to purchase a warranty that will be the 9x5 next day on-site that I would be able to use in both the USA and the UK. Do I have to pay extra for the intercontinental warranty service? The only information on the ibm website about this is specific for each notebook, so I'm extremely confused.

Does anyone have experience in this area? Also, can anyone explain the differences in the warranty plans? What is the difference between "Extended service contracts" and "protection services"?

Well, at least I know which computer I want. :)

I'd be quite interested to know too considering buying noteboooks in the USA is so much cheaper than in the UK. The warranty is the major issue.

go to euclidcomputers and search for the T60p

look for those configurations with the part number 2007 or 2008 ... they are much higher in price because of the international warranty... yet they only say that the warranty is only for depot/on-site... not specific...

Try to do a search on the Lenovo site. There's a page wherein you can input the machine's model number and you'll find out which countries IWS or International Warranty Service is available.

Hey paqtrick, did you finally get your Thinkpad? Which model did you get? Was it a Z61t or m?
