    Hi Y'all.

I received a free full copy of Vista Business, but I'm unsure if I should upgrade from XP Home. I had used Vista Business for 2 weeks and I really liked the interface, but I've heard so many negative comments(didn't get to delve into Vista much). Has anyone tried the latest RC for Vista SP1?

Here are my T60's specs (I've upgraded to 3GB RAM)

    42R9315 SBB INTEL CORE 2DUO PROC T7200
    62P4918 VBB MICROSOFT WINXP HOME
42R9281 SBB MS WINXP HOME US ENGLISH
    42T6586 SBB 15.4 W SXGA+ TFT
    42T6650 SBB ATI MOB. RAD. X1400 128MB
    41W2060 VBB 1GB PC2-5300 667MHZ 1DIMM
    39T6476 SBB KEYBOARD US ENGLISH
    27R0300 VBB INTEGR. FINGERPRINT SENSOR
    42T6648 SBB ULTRANAV TRACKPOINT/TOUCHP
    42T7155 SBB 160 GB,HDDRIVE,5400RPM
    41W5792 SBB CD-RW/DVD-R COMB24X24X24X8
    41W1501 SBB INTELPRO/WL3945ABGUSCNLAAP
    41W1508 SBB 6 CELL LI-ION BATTERY

So, the question, is there a compelling reason to upgrade or should just ebay the Vista?

Since you have 1GB of ram keep XP, but if you ever upgrade to like 2-4GB of ram and want to use aero then upgrade...other than that it's just preference!

Absolutly, i agree with klutchrider. You need minimum of 2 gigs of RAM to have VISTA work smoothly. I would suggest you pay a little extra and upgrade you RAM after which you can install VISTA.

If you like it and happy with the performance, don't listen to anyone else. I ran Vista on my R60 with 1GB of memory. It seemed to go OK.

I think you might have missed this. :err:

I have upgraded to 3GB. Sufficient?

And are there any scary issues. I know everybody is going the other way to XP. I like to buck trends. :spinny:

3GB should be plenty sufficient. If you ran Vista Business for two weeks without any problems, then you should be ok. People have been reporting that SP1 helped a lot. If it lets you download it thru Windows Update, then you should get it through there. Don't try any beta versions.

Vista Business runs fast and stable on my T42p, power management, aero, sidebar and sleep are some of the features I'd miss if I had to go back to XP. Expect some harddrive thrashing with just 1 GB RAM though.

if you feel you like it. then you can keep running vista. but i personally like vista just for their interface. apart of that. function wise. i prefer use xp to work. :D
if you only use it for home user. i think vista wouldn't be a problem
