I just installed Adobe CS3 and ran it for the first time, I received the following message:
"The monitor profile "Lenovo ThinkPad LCD Monitor" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software"
I have the Samsung monitor last time I checked.
So how do I properly calibrate my screen. I dont think I have any calibration software.
Thanks!

This tutorial will help you out. Adobe Gamma is what you need to use.

after watching that video, it just hit me........our thinkpads don't have contrast controls....it all has to be done through the intel/nvdia software.

There is no Control Panels folder in the Common Files folder.
I have Windows XP and he is using Vista. Maybe it's different?
I tried to search for "Control Panels" using Windows Search feature but nothing came up? -
Common Files folder? What do you mean?
Control Panel is in your start menu. -
In the tutorial he wants you go to into the Control Panel folder and find the file "Adobegamma.cpl" file and cut/paste it into your System32 folder. Once you do this then adobe gamma appears in the control panels folder.
I can't seem to find the adobegamma.cpl file? -
Try looking here:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration -
Maybe I can get this file on the web. -
Good thread. I'll be interested to see the answer to this --I had the same thing happen, but I ignored it. While I use Photoshop, etc., I'm not the professional publishing type so I don't need perfect calibration.
EDIT: After a bit of a search, I found Adobegamma.cpl in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Control Panels. Note: If you don't do a "Run As..." with the control panel, the monitor profile won't save, as its save location is protected by Vista.
Hopefully I'm interested --this seems like the answer! -
Try using the sRGB under Color Management instead of the Lenovo LCD...
start>control panel>"change to classic view">color management
Add... sRGB IEC61966-2.1... click set as default and close
Hope that helps -
lemm4 is right. I've right a thread explaining how to solve this problem HERE.
