Just got a T500 today from Lenovo.
Ordered it on last Wednesday and got it today, so I got it really fast.

A few questions for those that have the T500 already,
1.) how do you switch between graphic cards?
2.) how do you know if you got the LED screen? (I ordered with LED)
3.) the AT&T 3G card was already taken out of the sim card holder and placed into slot before I even opened the box up. Is this normal? or did I receive a used notebook?
4.) Im still on the fence on keeping the notebook as it weighs a ton as I need to travel with it today. Can I get a full refund if I return it in 2-3 days?

Why don't you ask yourself that why you brought it for?

I thought it were the T400 that had the switchable graphics.
Do the parts lookup to find the part number and google it.
I don't know, I've never ordered a notebook with WWAN. It's not available were I live.
If you need mobility the T400 is probably a better choice. Unless you're extremely charming I doubt you can get out of paying the 15% re-stocking fee. That's the way they roll now. It's sad and the reason my next notebook will likely not be a ThinkPad.

I can't believe you received it so quickly, that's nice. The only thing I can help with is switching graphics- left click the green horizontal battery icon in the taskbar and select Switchable Graphics. T400, T500, and W500 all have it, and I would think they are all enabled the same way.

The T500 has switch graphics also

    It works, many thanks

Why dont I ask myself what?

For technical advice on a incredibly resourceful and knowledgeable board which has proven itself as the number 1 site in the world for laptops about a new machine that costs over a thousand bucks?
Is that what I should ask myself?

    1) Left-click on the big, green battery icon on taskbar --> Switchable Graphics. The T400, T500, and W500 have switchable graphics.

    2) Download PCWizard 2008, look for your LCD model number and compare against known ThinkPad LCD screens.

    3) I do not know.

    4) You should have gotten a T400 or X-series for mobility. The T500 is semi-portable. The T500 is better for games than the T400 though. Lenovo's return policy sucks. They have a heavy restocking fee for returns.

I don't understand this comment.. I never will. The laptop weighs 6lbs.. how is this "a ton" give me a break. I will never understand people and their inability to carry around a laptop.

I also received one very recently and I find that it is amazingly light, I got a very slim messenger style bag to carry it around in and have had 0 issues.

I would recommend that if your initial feeling of this laptop is this bad, change it up for another one. There is no point in settling.

I used to feel this way until having to lug around bags all over airports for 11 plus hour flights then having to carry it around while in different countries, plus the laptop not being the only thing in your laptop bag which is holding booklets, documents, etc. then the laptop becomes much heavier.
But I see your point and understand. I had a sony sz before but just wanted the T500 so bad.

My question more so regarded Lenovos return policy if i did ending up changing my mind not so much asking the board if I should return it or not.

As far as the T500, its an awesome notebook from my experience so far.
The screen is really nice, I know alot of people complain about washed out colors but I dont think mat screens will ever compare to glossy in terms of color, except for the sony Z notebook (which looks like the perfect ratio of mat and color).
-Vista feels a bit laggy but it is vista.
-My keyboard seems to not have the flex problem, been pushing down on various buttons to test.
-Battery life is the best Ive seen on a 15 inch notebook with ATI graphics on, profile at max performance, screen at 80%, downloading updates, and surfing web, I got 4 1/2 hours.
-Notebook feels incredably solid, almost like a tank

If the T500 is too heavy for you, perhaps you could ask Lenovo to waive the restocking fee if you order another notebook from Lenovo.
