I just ordered a 14 in standard xga display T61 using the recent additional 20% off coupon. My shipping date is Sept 19th.

The T61 will be running on Vista Home Premium and includes an Intel 4965AGN wireless card.

I would like to install a new wireless home network and would appreciate recommendations for a wireless router. While I am interested in perfomance, I am not a technical expert so high quality, reliable, hardware and Ease of Installation are very important factors.

    Thanks

    John

I've heard some good things about Buffalo brand routers.
Try searching for Buffalo wireless router review.

He spent the extra money for a Draft N wireless card, I doubt he wants most of those since they are G routers.

Johnvale, I'm in the exact same boat. I want to get an N router to go with the Intel 4965AGN and also gigabit ethernet throughput for my desktop.

In my initial research, the D-link DIR-655 is looking good. link

If you do get it, make sure to

"Use WPA2 This is directly from f.a.q. for the dir-655.
"Enabling WEP on a DRAFT N connection will cap the speed to 54mbps. To gain the Draft N possible speeds, WPA2 is recomended."
    - Quoted from Alemaker on this site

I still want more suggestions, maybe a lower priced one also.

If you ever have a problem with your dlink, it is quite possibly the most excrutiating experience to have to call support...

I took up a dlink after having numerous dropout issues with a specific chipset linksys was using at the time. After 2 buggy dlink routers and over 10 hours over a period of 3 days trying to fix the crash the router was experiencing (and dlink never being able to fix it), I headed to buffalotech and never looked back. The buffalo routers are the routers of choice for the sveasoft team so they cant be all that bad :)

Ok Mcbrided, can you give me a wireless N model from Buffalo you recommend?

I found BUFFALO WZR2-G300N on newegg.com but it doesn't have gigabit Lan throughput, :(

I had a D-Link wireless router and it was proably the only piece of hardware I have ever physically destroyed after weeks of daily resets, lost settings, poor connectivity, and inconsistency. It was replaced once and the next router did the same thing, just less of it. If I did not break it, I was just going to keep pulling my hair out trying to get it to work.

I have the DLink Xtreme DIR 655, it is a nice router. Although I should have waited for the 855 coming soon. My only "con" with this router is trying to connect my xbox360. For some reason the XBox 360 do not like wpa2 or wpa. I also do not this xbox 360 support the 'N" standard. Other than that I have a real fast connection with my T61.
