Our staff member is looking for a portable, fast and quiet PC laptop, the choice has come between X61s and X61, we know X61s is smaller but which one is faster and quieter under big load of applications running simultaneously?

Also we are getting a discounted deal at a brand new X60s 17025NF with 3 years warranty for $829 shipped, is it worth buying?

    Thanks

IIRC, the X61s has different processors than the X61. They're less powerful, but consume less power.

x61 is more powerful but has roughly 30 minutes less battery life. I prefer the x61s especially with the ultralight display.

I also recommend the X61s because of the UltraLight display. The screen is brighter and it's also lighter.

That is a good price - about $300-$400 less than an X61s.

I use an X61s for travel and I love it. I find it has enough CPU horsepower and with a 7200RPM drive it is snappy. If battery life is less of an issue - the x61 is probably just as good. (About .3lb heavier)

Thank you all, you get an A+ for commenting. We are leaning towards X61s model but that X60s is very tempting too.

Whoa that is an excellent price. Does that include an Ultrabase. If so, you should be pulling the card out right about...................NOW!

The Lenovo outlet X61 prices are in the mid $850 range.

Go for it.......As for quality I have recently moved from an X31 to an X60 and I love the upgrade. X60 just does everything I need it to do just right.

No it didn't include an ultrabase but we went for it, expected to receive on Mon or Tue in our office. Although it's not mine but I'm excited too :D

In day to day tasks like Office and Internet there will be no performance difference.
