    Hello,

I'm looking to buy an external DVD burner so I could copy (quite a lot of) DVDs to HDD and save my T420's DVD drive.

    I've shortlisted the following:

Amazon.com: ASUS External Slim Black 8X DVD-RW Stylish Diamond Cut Design Optical Drive SDRW-08D2S-U/B/G/ACI/AS: Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: Samsung Ultra Portable Slim DVD+/-RW USB External Drive, Black SE-218BB/RSBS: Computers & Accessories

Amazon.com: Pioneer Electronics USA Retail Slim DVD/RW Writer DVR-XD10S5PK: Computers & Accessories

I was wondering which one you guys would recommend. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think you need to worry about "saving" the drive. Just use it as you need to, and if it dies, buy a new one; those UltraBay devices aren't that expensive (if you don't try to buy it from Lenovo). If it dies and you're still under warranty, even better.
