read your manual---somewhere is an option to burn your own recovery cd.

I think its time for a "recovery disk" sticky.

I'm new here and I already know everything about recovery disks and the hidden partition and I havent even gotten my T61p yet!

I would agree to the recovery disk sticky, and perhaps Lenovo's return policy.

Yes, it would be good to sticky a lot of topics, including Lenovo's return policy, but users also have a responsibility to search before asking. In 90% of my own searches on NBR, I find the answers to my questions very quickly.

Please don't misunderstand me, I am all for helping (new) users, which I think many can attest to, but I am often surprised to see so many posts about the same topics day after day.

Hence, I recommend and urge people to search the forums and read the stickies.

Coming back to the subject regarding the recovery disks, the current ThinkPad sticky includes the following:

    Software and Recovery Media
ThinkPads do not come with Recovery Media. They must burned from your computer which we would highly recommend you do shortly after receiving your machine. Put them in a safe place too. The recovery discs are not a Windows disc, but will restore your machine to its factory state. All the software for your machine, which would include the drivers and applications installed on your ThinkPad, is located in the SWTools folder on C:\ drive. We would recommend promptly making a copy of this as well.

Sorry about that. I handled a few Toshibas and recovery disk is always included. That's why I asked. I thought it's a standard thingy. I should have read the sticky in the front. My bad. :D

No worries Jsailor. It might have sounded a bit harsh. If so it wasn't intended.

I am gonna gift wrap it and send the rebate in the next few days.
Too bad it won't be mine in a few weeks.
