Hi all,
I just got my first laptop, a R61 with Vista basic a couple of days ago. I got some question, I hope they're not too dumb.
I don't plan on doing a clean install but I do want to make recovery disks.
My question is, using the ThinkVantage button, will the recovery disks you make be the factory fresh install or is it an up-to-date recovery since I've used and added stuff to the hard drive the last few days?
I'm also curious about how you can test the recovery disks to be sure they work? Do you have to do an actual recovery to test?
This is also my first experience with Vista - coming from W2K. My first impression is Vista is less user friendly but I suppose I'll get used to it. One thing I can't find is how to logon a user automatically. Going to user accounts in the control panel doesn't show an option to do this.
Is it possible in Vista to auto logon?
Finally, where's windows explorer? I'm so used to windows explorer with the left and right panels and tree view that I feel lost.
Thank and cheers to a wonderful and helpful site.

I think they will be the factory fresh install and not an upto date system recovery disk creator.
The recovery disk creator usually takes a LONG time, as it collects the files, verifys the files, writes the files, verifys the files and then finishes the disk and ejects. So this means there is no need to test the disks manually.
Recovery Disks, Auto Logon ...
