My T61 was initially set up as DEH-T61 as the computer name. Then the hard drive crashed in a few days after purchase. Lenovo sent another one. When I went to back that one up on my HP Media Server the server would not do it -- because a computer with that name had already been backed up <!>. So I changed the name to T61-DEH. Okay so far.

But now I am getting a message from the TPM settings or whatever saying the secuity key needs to be recovered. AND it can only be done if DEH-T61\[my name] logs on. If I rename the computer to DEH-T61 then the backup won't be recognized. I suppose I could rename then rename again, but that won't help the security chip in the long run.

Does this make sense? Have you encountered or, better yet, solved this problem?

I'd say contact Lenovo on this.
