I have a dead T61P I'd like to recycle. A couple of years back, Lenovo had a webpage for a recycling program for laptops. I can't seem to find it anymore. What's the best way to recycle this laptop?

well why not just sell it to someone whom have use for it, this way at least this laptop could get the maximum use out of it. For environmentally friendly practice you should:

Reduce, Reuse and then finally Recycle.

If you allow someone to fix it and then get some use out of it, then you are reducing wastage.... if this laptops finally reach the end of its lifecycle and can no longer be serviced for use, then that is when it should be recycled.

I think the right thing to do right now, is to sell or give it away to someone and let them fix it to a working condition, these machines when properly serviced should last another 4 to 6 years.

This will be more beneficial then recycling it at the very moment.

+1 put it up on you local craigslist dude. Any takers will do the foot work and you don't have to drive to your nearest recycling facility, or even to the post office.

You might also try the Thinkpad Forum. If there are any useful parts left someone might offer to pay for the shipping to take it off your hands. I did this with an old T43 recently
