I just received my refurbished W500 from Lenovo..

3 keys are sticking and cannot be pressed! There is also a rubber foot missing off the bottom,

Is this acceptable standards for a Lenovo refurbished laptop? I can't even use the damn thing because 3 of the keys won't work!

A refurbished product should be at least usable. Yours is already broken. Call up Lenovo and ask for a replacement or repair.

If nothing else is wrong with it you can get a replacement keyboard and replacement rubber feet really easily.

Everything else seems okay, I haven't used it much though. I think I'm going to try and get some money back from Lenovo or just a straight up refund on it.

I could go either way, I'm happy if they just return it or give me money off and I'll buy a keypad off ebay and install it myself. I know the rubber feet isn't a huge deal.

I'd also be cool if they replace it with a brand new one =), I don't recall seeing any other just like it in the outlet store.

You do not need to buy any parts. You either want to return the whole thing or just get your parts replaced under the warranty (or well not even proper condition when received).

Call and ask for a keyboard and rubber feet if you want to keep the machine. Otherwise just return it.

Called Lenovo, told them I wanted to return it and they had no issues with it. Have to call and speak with tech support later tonight to verify that its in non-working condition. Looking forward to that call

Not overly happy with the condition it was in and the quality control of their refurb department, it says a lot about a company that, I really can't wait to send it back, have it fixed, and sent back to me again.

Who said you have to send it back? We keep saying you can order the parts and easily replace them yourself.

That is of course unless other things are not functioning. But you have not made any indication of that.

I think Lenovo would be willing to send you a keyboard replacement (fine time to ask for a T61 solid-backed keyboard for your troubles ;)) and a rubber foot if you tell them the troubles you're having with your refurbished machine. No need to send the whole thing back and possibly risking other defects.

Yeah no I know I could easily replace the parts myself but it was a refurbished system, and it arrived in non-working condition.

Its been sent back, I'm getting a refund, and not ordering again a refurb from them. There is no quality control going on there at all. I told the guy on the phone at the tech department what the problem was and by the time I talked to the RMA department they already had what I told tech wrong.

Don't make a fuss over a keyboard and a missing rubber foot.
These are cheap user replaceable parts that I see no reason Lenovo would give you a hard time about.
I believe they also send all of their replacement parts (under warranty) next day air by default.
So it would cost you nothing and would get there before you know it (as apposed to if purchased on eBay or whatever).
I myself have had a really bad experience with their repair service quality control on a brand new unit(look up my past threads), but Lenovo did fix their errors.
Also very important, it's a relatively very reliable piece of machinery we're talking about here.

Thinkpads are incredible, don't let something like this make you think less of it.

Refurb machines are okay, but these things can happen, even in new machines hence DOA policies exist to remedy for such problems. One incidence doesn't say much.

Refurbished by Lenovo means that it has been used, but it is in mint condition.
    Open or not
    Used or not
    Turned on or not
    No blemishes nor scratches.
