I ordered a refurb X1C from outlet and got it on 5th day after ordering. I love it, it has all the right options that i was looking for - mainly Windows 7 Pro and 8GB RAM in a ultra thin notebook. Everything worked perfectly... till i pull out the power cable and it immediately died. Looks like it won't run on battery - even though battery shows 100% charged and Lenovo Solution Center app battery Check passed it as working OK. So that's the first QC issue with refurb unit i found - can't understand why they ship a unit to customer with non-working battery. Does anyone has any idea how to get it to work? I am asking because the BIOS has an option to DISABLE the battery but no option to enable it. I tried disabling it, disconnect power, reconnect - nothing helped.

Haven't heard of this issue before; could be a defective machine. Have you called in to Lenovo Support to see what they have to say about it (it's 24/7)?

I tried contacting tech support which brings up 2nd issue with Lenovo; according to their system my warranty has expired - never mind that i just bought it 5 days ago. They wouldn't do anything about it until i contact warranty validation dept. that unfortunately only open M-F...

Did you ever get your warranty issue resolved with Lenovo?

Yes, had to contact warranty validation department and then had to send it in for repair which involved replacing the battery and some other components - this is for a fresh "refurbished" product; not a good first experience. Its working now but Lenovo customer service is chaotic; they could not locate a service request if you lose your requet ID so make sure you jot down any ticket/request nmber they give you as they don't send it in an email like Dell. I have only praises for Dell - have bought their high-end systems and all transactions/systems/service requests have been very satisfactory.
