What does this actually mean, has the computer been redone and sent out again?

It says it was returned opened?

    Are these computers worth buying?

    Thx

Mine had zero sign of use and 0 cycles on the battery. What it did come with from whoever ordered it the first time was on-site warranty.

Considering the substantial discount, I usually look in the outlet first these days. This will vary though, sometimes there are killer discounts and coupons in the retail side.

Lenovo Outlet items are in most cases just extra stock and returned items. Sometimes someone buy a system then just return it cuz they don't like the screen or keyboard or something small like that. Lenovo now sells that same machine at deep discounts.

How about "scratch and dent" laptops? Are they really bargains or they are cheap for a reason?

Refurbished can mean anything I guess. If it says "new", then it really should be brand new - as in unused.

I think scratch and dent are a hit or miss. At least that was my impression from the people at Alienware subforum who bought stuff like that from Dell.

A refurbed machine should look new and have a new battery.

I bought mine as a refurb, it did look new, save for a crack in the palmrest that was replaced. But the battery was not new. it had about 170 cycles on the battery. I don't think the battery is required to be in new condition, just a reasonably acceptable condition.

I was thinking now of buying a refurb 201 and not waiting for the new models in the spring.

Can anyone comment on what they think about this?
It says REfurb means the seal was broken on the box

refurb can cover a number of situations from defective nearly new machines that have been repaired to used machines which have been refurbished to like-new condition.

there's no guarantee that all refurbs from the outlet are going to be in the same condition.

If you dont plan to upgrade warranty then refurb could be ok, but if you intend to upgrade warranty after your original 1 year warranty expires then refurb might not be the best deal since its more expensive to get after warranty service upgrades.
New X200/X201 arent as expensive as it might seem, unless you can get X200 for $399 from Lenovo outlet or X201 for $499 then Id go for brand new or buy one used from reputable seller with warranty still left.
