    Is there any IBM specific software which can partition the Hard Disk into more number of drives.?Or any partition software will work for T61 notebook?(OS used is VISTA)

    The answer is... Vista!

    Right click on Computer > Manage > Storage > Disk Management.

    true story from Mr. Banana. Vista does work but is limited. you can download the Gparted live cd, boot to that and do whatever you want with your drive. i never had any issues using Gparted. crashed and burned once with Vista so I stay clear.
