Any thoughts on Registry Cleaning apps?

People seemed to have various success and claim some are better than others.

I've used Registry First Aid with decent results in the past. However, they do no support 64-bit Vista.

I'm curious what others have used and their experience.

I was using CCLeaner (been a fan for years) with my new T400 and it kept wiping out some Synaptics driver related stuff on Vista 64-bit. So be careful if on the newer machine. (I don't know if it was a 64 bit-thing, or just new machine and drivers, but I was using the latest CCleaner). Still a great program, though.

Hmmm..I'm 64-bit on a T400, so now I am wary of using it...

I had the same issue, so I turned off registry cleaning on my ThinkPad, I now just use the regular cleanup function,

Just the standard file cleanup in CCleaner that you see on the main screen.

I used CCleaner on my PCs too and one of those (my desktop) is running 64 Bit Home Premium and I have never had a problem, granted a desktop does not have a Synaptics driver/track pad.

Yes, I've also used it for ever on my XP Pro desktop without any problem in regular cleaning or registry cleaning.
