I have a T41 that has slowed down so much that I now need to reinstall Windows XP. I bought a new, bigger disk drive, but I am unsure of how to install XP on that so that the T41 will boot.

I gather that there are some issues with the hidden IBM partition. I tried using Norton Ghost to copy my current disk to the new disk, but the computer will not boot off the new disk once I do this. I'm happy to get rid of the hidden partition if necessary.

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

All you should need to do is replace the old hard drive with the new one, insert the XP CD and boot to your optical drive. Install XP and download the necessary drivers from Lenovo's website. You can then purchase a small 2.5" external adapter/enclosure and pull the files you want off of your old disk.

All the drivers and apps should be in the IBMTools folder. You can update if you wish.
