    Ok so I went ahead and bought the X230... and I cannot return it since this is Europe and bought it on the business ...

    The good:

    1. Great looking machine;
    2. Sturdy enough
    3. Love the new Keyboard ... I type better on it than on the old one;
    4. IPS is nice to look at ...

    The not-so-good:

    1. the IPS has back-light bleed but it's mostly OK, I don't watch very dark
    movies and do not use any programs profesionally that would make it an issue. The screen could do with LESS backlight bleed though.
    2, Screen bezel looks 99% ok, a tiny bit loose in top left corner;
    3. The hinges could be stiffer ... my T400 is way harder to open. BTW is there a way to tighten them just a little ?
    4. Can someone refer me to the Thread that must exist on the trackpad issues. One tap on the trackpad does not always work, at times I need to tap 3-4 times to register one tap.. that is BAD !! I can use the trackpoint but that is not really the point? Read somewhere about synaptics drivers not good ? Please advice ... update BIOS ? Tapping and right clicking seem the issues with it

    Thanks

    PS: I have the I5 3210 and been looping a video on it for some 7 hours ... glad to say there are no heat issues and fan is very quiet no CPU whine ... hope it remains this way.

    Regarding the trackpad, have you checked the driver settings? They might have specific pressure settings. Also, is the trackpad itself clean? It used to be that bits of dust or hair could get between the bezel and the pad itself and mess up the sensor input.
    Regarding the other issues, good to know :)

    I've used the trackpad on my dad's X220 and X230 a number of times, and while they definitely weren't good (I hate clickpads), they weren't below average among other clickpads either. I would try turning off the palmcheck feature, as that does sometimes interfere with tap-to-click sensitivity as well.

    See, this is the type of comment that makes me think I got a dud touchpad. I've never, ever had a worse touchpad. If others don't think theirs was so terrible, maybe a replacement rather than refund is in order.

    I think you should learn to look at the glass half full. You'll probably be a happier person. When you compare your good and not so good lists, the good points would seem to outweigh the not so good, which seem minor. The touch pad on the X230 is what it is and has been known to be fair since the X220.

    If you're still under warranty, you could see if that will help. You could also try bringing it into a Lenovo-authorized local service center and see if they notice anything wrong with it.
