I recently purchased a refurbished [i.e. no documentation] T21 Thinkpad running Win98SE.
My "learn by doing" education is going pretty well except for one recurring problem.
Whenever I forget and leave a disk in either the DVD/CD drive or the external [USB powered] floppy drive, I eventually have a freeze up/crash. Various programs that loaded on start up suddenly stop and next thing I know I'm in "safe mode" !!
My desktop computers also running Win98SE, have "no problem" with "forgotten" disks. Is what I'm seeing peculiar to Thinkpads/laptops ??

Well, I have not used the T21 before so I'm not sure. You might want to try searching on google for the answer, if this is a know problem it will be there. I have one question though, how do you know that the problem is caused by media left in the notebook? does it give you an error message? You might also get all the windows updates for 98SE as well as going to IBM's support page and making sure your up to date on all the updates for the T21.
