I'm planning to get the T500 in the next few days once the price on the T9400 gets fixed. The one problem is that I want a big harddrive, but also one running at 7200 rpm. When you chose the 200gb 7200 harddrive, it disables selection of turbo memory (which I also want). Would it work to get the standard 80 gb harddrive with turbo memory and then buy a 320 gb 7200 harddrive from newegg or somewhere? Would I be able to transfer vista and all of the preloaded software over to the new harddrive (and how would I do this)? Also, doing so wouldn't void the warranty, would it? I know most companies will let you upgrade the RAM and harddrive but I'm not sure what Lenovo's policy is.

    Thanks

Turbo memory is useless, don't bother with it.

If you set it only to use Ready Drive and not Ready Boost (which I admit is useless) it helps a lot in bootup times. My mom has it in her laptop, which isn't impressive at all in terms of specs, but it boots up in probably about 20 seconds.

    Any suggestions for the harddrive?

Yes, you should be fine in getting the lowest harddrive option from Lenovo and then upgrading yourself. You could get the 320GB 7200rpm drives or the 500GB 7200rpm drives that should be coming out later this year. Upgrading your harddrive does not void the warranty. Swapping out the harddrive in the Thinkpad is real easy. Have a look at the hardware maintenance manual for the Thinkpad(downloadable on Lenovo's site) and it has instructions for how to replace the drive.
