So, I need to buy a new T410 and i think i got a very very good deal (see below). The only thing that I would really like that lenovo can't provide right now is a WXGA+ screen. I currently have a WXGA+ screen installed on my T400 that's a brick.
I understand the installation itself is somewhat tricky, but I think i'll be able to manage. My question is, are there specifics about the two screens that are different as in components/color quality etc. ? Also, would my warranty go out the window? Thanks for all the help.

I'm not too sure on the technical aspect, but the T400 does have an exposed screen cable linking the display to the motherboard (the fat black strip), while the T410 does not. I would venture to say the screens aren't physically compatible, at least without a fair bit of tweaking.

Yes, a screen replacement would void your warranty.

If I recall correctly, the hinge placement and size are also different, so it most likely would not physically attach correctly to the t410 chassis. If you check out the Lenovo outlet, I believe there were several t410 models with the WXGA+ display available, including refurbished and new products.

What is it with Lenovo and WXGA+ screens at the moment? I was thinking about buying an x201s, now they are off the website, rumors say a supply shortage of 12" WXGA+ screens. So I opted to buy a t410 and now here we are again, no WXGA+. There are certain specs I consider must-have in a new thinkpad, so I would most likely have to compromise if I were to buy from a reseller. What should I do? How long until Lenovo can provide WXGA+ screens again?

Edit: I just noticed that they still ship the t410s with WXGA+ resolution - now if only they had a 9 cell battery for that...
