I'm looking for an NMB keyboard for a T61. It's not something I necessarily intend on buying right now, but I'm interested in pricing them out.
Anyone know where one might purchase one?

Google the part number.

Ebay perhaps?

Thanks. I tried Google and didn't turn up with anything other than the IBM page, but you can't order from there. I didn't try Ebay because the Chicony keyboards are being rebranded as NBM so I wanted to be sure to price out an NBM.

What's the best keyboard manufacturer for IBM laptops?
-
I don't know from personal experience, but from what I read, the general consensus is that the NMB (original NMB with the blue keysprings) are the best, Alps is second, and the Chicony is third. Mine is a Chicony and I do like it a lot, but it is a little bit mushy. I'm sure it will just take me some more time to get accustomed to it, but I was interested in pricing a different keyboard just in case.

It's rare to find a true NMB keyboard nowadays. For a while now, IBM has been putting NMB stickers onto Chicony keyboards. So even if you do manage to order an NMB keyboard from IBM, you have a good chance of receiving a rebranded Chicony keyboard.
I have heard that the new Chicony keyboard has been improved upon, even better than the old ALPS keyboard. -
I like mine quite a bit, but I've heard people say that the original NMB is superior. Makes me curious.
The keyboard on my Vaio is far inferior to this T61. When I'm typing quickly, I tend to occasionally bang a key. The ThinkPad takes that very well. -
I just received my T61 today and checked the FRU for the keyboard. Turns out it's the Chicony keyboard. The keyboard to me is a little too firm, much more firmer then any other keyboard i've tried in the past, including the keyboard on my sister's Z61t, and a little loud.
I'm also interested in pricing out a NMB replacement keyboard. -
i havent received my laptop yet, but where can we check on the system to see what type of keyboard we have?
