Well, while I am waiting for the next shipment of ASUS z70va w/BT to come in so I can get mine...

My old IBM 600X, which is a bit on its last legs, has a power cord that is that is going kaput.

I don't need a new adaptor; just the power cord. I ordered an entire replacement unit from SimpleMicro and what arrived is a piece of junk. It does not even have a ground in the plug (i.e., it is 2 prong not 3 prong as the original.) The quality is cheap as well. I dobut the thin will last much longer than a year.. it is so flimsy.

So I am sending it back.

Where can I get a quality replacement power cord? Of the quality of IBM. I would love ot get an orginal IBM cord but I can't seem to find it on the net.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Yeah I did check out Lenovo...no luck.

And I did find a site on e-bay that seemed to sell a good power cord... though I am leery after my experience with Simple Micro. What a piece of cr*p. And they charge more to send it back than it's worth. And I really reserached around...
They just said it was a replacement gave all the specs of voltage etc. But never stated it wasn't 3 prong. They certainly made it seem like it was identical... They hid the end of the power cord so you couldn't see it wasn't 3 prong. Plus they used the same pic for all the adaptors and stated that it was not representative of the actual priduct.

Well, I will not buy from Simple Micro again.....

Oh well. I seemed to get burned once a year on the internet for about $40.

out of all the 600x's we had at work 0 had a power adaptor with a ground. 2 plugs only. some of the 600e's we had had power adaptor's with a ground. i would double check the model power adaptor you are using.
    scott

i did a little digging around and i did find 2 and 3 prong power adaptors for the 600x. check out forum.thinkpads.com there is a 600x section or even a for sale section...good luck in your search...the 600x is a great laptop...i still use one today...i have yet to find a laptop with a keyboard that even comes close to it.

My 600E came with a grounded cable, and the one I bought on Ebay did as well.

Would someone check this out and see if it looks like good quality to you.

I"ve really searched a lot. Also all over e-bay. THis guy's a power seller with a 99+% rating. I read the complaints and they just seem like the kind of stuff that can happen, not any pattern of shoddy merchandise or anything.

Note that it is really $5 includingthe shipping. I went looking for a more expensive one, hoping to find better quality...but they all run in the $5-$7.50 range.

I've checked out Radio Shack. They are selling one that it seems like it is made by Compaq. But it has a flat head plug and for various reasons I don't want one of those.

looks fine to me. that is the only part you need? On my old power adaptor the end that plugs into the laptop died, making the whole brick useless. I didn't bother keeping the wall to brick cord either.

Too bad you didn't keep the power cord... I would have bought it off you... ;) I would rather have original IBM product.

I just can't believe how cheesy this adaptor and power cord from Simple Micro is....
