I just passed the 4-year mark and I think I'm about ready to replace my Z61t. After 4 OS reinstalls throgh the years I'm ready for something new. I've been happy overall with it, and would like to stay with the same 14" screen with at least 1440 x 900 resolution. I'm hoping that I can get something a little lighter and that will give me better battery life.

I know that's nothing too specific, but if anyone has made a similar replacement I'm wondering what you got. I'm obviously still considering a Thinkpad, but would also look at Dell Latitudes or anything else you might recommend. I'm aiming for sub $1000 and am fine buying refurb off an outlet site.

My wife is trying to convince me to get a MacBook, but I'm nto sure I'm ready to go the dark side (also not sure if I'm ready to go to Win 7 either!)

    Thanks.
