Hello,
I decided that I would like to stick my x25-M in my x200, and I was wondering what my options are going about installing my Vista with no optical drive or recovery disks.
-
Mmm zero? You could probably get an install on a thumb drive, but that would require you to actually have a Vista disk
I don't really have any good solutions unless you had a network WDS to connect to. -
Why don't you have the recovery discs?
-
If I remember correctly, it didn't come with any...
-
in Hp there is a tool to write recovery CDs from the recovery partition
try to search about that for your laptop -
Rescue and Recovery should allow you to create those disks under Thinkvantage.

Ok, since I have no USB optical drive, would it be possible to "burn" an image and transfer to a computer with a burner? Anyone know any programs that may be able to do that?
-
There may be some optical write emulator that can write directly to an image from any program, but I do not know of any.
Your best bet will probably be to clone your existing drive onto the x-25M. You can either use a USB enclosure, or if you have access to a desktop with SATA just place both drives in there and do a clone. Acronis seems to be a very popular option, and I have had good luck with Self Image (Note: Self-Image cannot resize partitions, you must do this yourself). -
nope sorry i don'y know any first time i see some1 who need that option , hope u will find a solution

i thought you could make the recovery cd with external usb harddrive...
Replacing HDD in my x200, how to reinstall Windows?
