I have recently received a new T400 LED with a samsung screen and i am somehwat unsatisfied with the panel. I have done some research and concluded that the LG screens are much better, so I am thinking of trying to replace with one.

Ebay has a seller selling brand new replacement screens manufactured by LG, and they have the same FRU # and everything. I just wanted to see if anyone has attempted to replace their laptop's display by themselves, and if so, how did that work out. i would like to know if this is even worth the effort. Please give me your opinion.

    Thank you

btw here is information about the item for sale on ebay i am considering purchasing...

    """""
    A+ New T400 R400 LP141WP2(TL)(B1) WXGA+ (1440x900) LCD Panel, LED backlight 42T0498

Item is BRAND NEW! 100% original from IBM/Lenovo, NOT the used or refurbished one!

Careful what you wish for. The problem with internet research is the perspective is often skewed because people with a complaint are often much more vocal than those who like their setup. It makes people who otherwise would think their machine is fine, think there is something wrong with their setup. Perhaps before you go down this path you should try calibrating your screen. I know there have been others here have reported better results after calibrating their screen.

You can of course swap the screen. It's not that difficult. There's videos on Lenovo's website showing how to do it. Check the sticky for a link. The Hardware Maintenance Manual can be a big help too. Keep in mind by swapping the screens you will void any warranty you have.
