    Hi,
On ebay there are many 15" 1440x900 LED screens that are the same ones as the ones made for last gen macbook pros. They are the ones used in the latitude E6500.

If I were to buy one of these screens for $199, would this fit in a T500/W500 that ALREADY HAS an led screen? Could anyone knowledgeable chime in with why it would or wouldn't work?

    Edit:

    From a website:

    Upgrade to LED screen.
There is no way to upgrade from regular screen to LED. LED and regular laptop screens aren't interchangeable and will require different connectors and power sources. To upgrade your laptop to LED screen, you'd have to replace your laptop's motherboard.

So those who have the CCFL 1680x1050 screen can't upgrade, but what about those who already have 1280 x 800 LED screens? It would be a great way for me to fix the primary flaw in the Lenovo systems: a poor screen.

    Thanks

While the LEDs are brighter with better battery life, they do not enhance image quality. Also keep in mind if you replace the screen you will have no warranty.

Thanks, ZaZ. The 1440x900 screens are the ones in the macbook pro, and they have something like 500:1 contrast ratios and they are very good.

Given your 19,945 posts, do you think that doing such a swap (1280x800 15.4" LED to 15.4" 1440x900 LED) would be possible? As long as the dimensions fit (and I see no physical differences b/w a 15.4" Lenovo, 15.4" dell latitude e6500, 15.4" macbook pro screen) would there be some firmware issues or some proprietary hardware connections that would foil this attempt? Better yet, has anyone even done this? I surely can't be the first.

    Thanks!

My guess would be no. I think I'd get the WSXGA+. It's not an IPS, but they're not half bad. I've seen a couple.
