    Guys,

Just wanted to run through what I am planning to do with my x201 and make sure I am not doing anything wrong. I am going to replace the default screen with a Hydis 120 Matte LCD screen, which is AFFS and I believe AFFS is supposed to be the new technology to IPS, so great quality?

Will it be of similar quality to the IPS in my x230?

Is this the best available screen for the x201?

My default x201 screen will be LED and the new screen is CCFL, so I will also need to purchase:

    Video cable:

    New/Orig IBM Lenovo X200 X201 CCFL Lcd video cable 44C5392 44C9909 75Y5705 | eBay

    and Inverted card:

    NEW IBM/Lenovo X200 X201 Lcd CCFL inverter card 42W8010 | eBay

Have I got all of that correct?

The third thread doesn't say its a no-go? It just talks about LED vs CCFL? (or am I missing something?)

Please do share your concerns if I have missed something.

My understanding - which may be incorrect - is that the entire lid should be replaced.

As I've said, no personal experience with this mod...

I'm basing my ability to replace it on:

forum.thinkpads.com • Cost to replace the 1200x800 screen on the X201?

I believe it's only on the X200s and X201s that you need to replace the whole top half because the LCD frame on the X20xs is differently sized and won't accommodate the Hydis LCD, I see no flaw in your plan. You do need to replace the cable and LED sub card with the cable and inverter from the CFFL X200. The Hydis LCD offers better color than the LG in the X230, but since bulb lit, there's a good chance it will dim over time. You can't have it all I guess.

Ah the original author of the post I quoted!

Could I ask you if this screen is compatible:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-Hydis...Laptop_Screens_LCD_Panels&hash=item3f1c3ae99e

Its Hydis 120 but instead of "WX4" (the one you quoted on another forum) its "WX5"?

On the ebay listing it says that only the screen is sold, not the "controller board". It looks like the "WX4" listed on ebay comes with a controller board. Could you comment a little on whether this means I would also need to purchase the "WX5" controller board too?

I don't recall the reason, but the LED version of the screen is not compatible. You need the CFFL LCD if you want it to work and it looks like the one you linked is a knock off, not a Hydis screen. The model number is HV121WX4-120 if you want the matte version.
