I have found a reproducible crash with my t61. I've tried this with all the available updates from the T61 support site, and with/without all the thinkvantage software.

When downloading a file, put the laptop to sleep (close the lid press the function key combination etc). The laptop will not go to sleep. When you open the lid, the laptop does not wake up. You have to hold the power button and shutdown the device.

    Is anyone seeing this?

Why would you want to put your laptop to sleep and download a file at the same time?

My guess is that if you flip the switch on the front of your laptop to physically turn off wireless connections it will go to sleep. If not, I would say to just stop the downlaod process before putting your laptop to sleep. In general, I would think it would always be good practice to have your system in idle for several seconds before trying to put it to sleep.

You wouldn't go out for a jog around the block and decide to go to sleep while you're running would you? :p

That shouldn't matter. If he forgets that he is in the middle of a long download and closes his lid, then he should not be screwed.

Just about every Lenovo driver and BIOS update have something to do with sleep and hibernation problems. Vista as well has many updates (including SP1 beta) to attempt to fix sleep/hibernate issues. These are obviously known issues that are being worked on.

As quoted above, that is probably a temporary fix (otherwise try to be in idle before putting it to sleep). That's all I can offer until a "real" fix comes along. I didn't see any other suggestions so I was just trying to help.
