I usually use Acronis True Image 2011 for system backups, but after viewing a nice R&R training course here, decided to give it a try.

Well, it was not a good idea at all. First, it instantly created a backup of 140GB within about 20 sec and then hung up. The progress bar was showing 100%, yet the system was completely frozen. I had to reboot with a hard-switch-off and tried it again. This time I just tried to change the default backup location.... clicked Save and the system was frozen again.

Did someone have a similar experience?

    Thanks

I tried to put the factory image from the factory Lenovo restore discs on my X230 tablet (new SSD) and it threw up a ton of errors during the image process ("file not found, etc."). I just did a clean install using a factory Win7 Professional disc and it's running smooth as butter now.

I really think the Lenovo restore process is not a good idea. Things just seem to run so much better by using a factory image from Microsoft and just using your COA to activate. Install the OS, then the wireless drivers, run Lenovo software update a bunch of times, and you are off to the races, bloatware free.
