    Hy there,

I've got a really serious problem and I need to solve it the faster the better since I need my notebook. This is the problem: I own a Z61m with WinXP on it. Yesterday I tried to make a clean install with Vista, with no saving of WinXP and programs. The thing is that I had 2 partitions, C: (with WinXP and program installations) and D: with movies, music, other program and some downloads. In the Vista installation menu I formated the C: partition. But than a friend told me that the Vista wouldn't work fine, so I tried to install WinXP back from the recovery partition (that came with the notebook).
BUt, theres the problem. I normaly came into the rescue and Recovery boot program (when you press the blue vantage button in the startup). Then I went into Restore your system part and went on the make a factory defaults install but I realised that he damn Vista deleted all the files on the C: and transfered all my D: partition files onto C:. So I can't format the C: partition now because of the data.
I don't have a external hard drive, and a USB memroy stic (it's broken ;), so

how can I save my files from that C: partition (on a DVD) and make thta installation normaly?

Sry for the long post ;)

I'm not sure how successful you wil be renaming the active partition but try partition magic or something similar
