I decided to delete all my old backups on my hd to recover some space and run r&r onto my external hd. It was suppose to save the backup onto the extdrive but I dont see anything when I open it up and I noticed 5gb on my hd was gone. So did it actually save anything to my exthd? Also, now whenever I plug the drive in I get a message asking me if I want to make my drive bootable. I'm hesitant to click Yes b/c Im afraid my data on the drive would be lost if it reformats my exthd or something.

I did the same thing to my external hdd. I made it bootable and I'm pretty sure it doesn't delete anything on your external (point me out if I'm wrong anybody.) Does anybody know what bootable means? I just assumed that it made the drive accessible through the blue ThinkVantage button before Windows loaded in case you want to restore with a backup. And you can check your backups in the Rescue and Recovery program by clicking "Change schedule, name a backup, delete backups" under the "Back Up" button and then clicking "delete backups."

When I selected the option to make the drive bootable, I got a message telling me that all data on the drive would be lost. However, the drive was formatted EXT3, so this may not apply to NTFS or FAT drives. However, I would say it is pretty safe to say that if it does, you will have the option to abort before this happens.
