But I cant afford a new Carbon X1, not in the next couple years. But I want one now, I want HDR and dont want to be missing out on all the great HDR content, along with it makes a much better image editing device. I dont do a lot of batch files, but I do narrow down my shots to keepers that I work on as a hobby.
Is there any way possible for me to transfer the Gen6 screen to say a gen 4 machine which costs very little used?
I know with the AW 13 to even contemplate it, that requires the entire chassis, I looked into it, so this might be the same.
Im a really screen fococussed person. There is no point computing if the screen is not enjoyable.
I was thinking a Gen4. Are the a connectors the same for each screen? The G4 should put put WQHD.
Where should I start my investigating?

My guess would be if you can't afford the X1 Carbon 6th gen, swapping the screen into an older ThinkPad as a way to save money is likely a fool's errand. Perfection, as always, remains elusive. I saw someone post the other day asking how to tone down the HDR screen as it's, by their estimation, over-saturated. There's lot's of notebooks with good screens that don't cost like the X1C.

To be honest get the WQHD good than enough.
They both are quite close.
Just HDR more richer.
T460s WQHD
X1 Carbon C6 HDR
Retrofit X1 500+ nit 14.0" WQHD Premium IPS to older gen Carbon X1?
