Hey guys, I've received the T520 today but decided to just get a refund (found another laptop @ microcenter).
Anyway, I got the RMA to drop it off at my local UPS tomorrow but am I subjugated to a restocking fee?
I did ask the sales rep that if I would be charged a restocking fee and he did say that I wouldnt because I put in a request to cancel my order but it shipped out already.
Anyway, I havnt opened the box and will be dropping it off tomorrow. The sales rep told me that they would receive it and it will take 1-2 days to inspect it and the refund will be credited within 10 business days.
But I've read various different things online where some people that does not open the box still get charged the restocking fee. If the sales rep told me that I wouldnt be charged a restocking fee because I didnt open the box, can I trust him?

The rep will clearly indicate if you will be charged. If they say you won't then you wont.
Also, if they have a record of your cancellation request prior to shipment, you're in the clear. I've even sent back open boxes and have not been charged a restocking fee, but you're much safer to keep it unopened. -
hopefully you have the rep's full name and time when you called. While rep may say that you won't be charged, etc, there is a good chance that you will. If that is the case, then you would need to provide some evidence that the rep actually did tell you that you won't be charged a restocking fee.

no need to induce panic on this one. -
Call them after it is received by them (check tracking) to make sure they start processing it. When I returned mine, they didn't start processing the return until I called a couple weeks after. Then it took 2 days from that call for the processing and up to 10 for the credit (took less but they said up to 10).
I don't know if they ever would have started the processing if I hadn't called, they never emailed me anything. -
During the order, I changed my order from a T520 to the w520 I'm typing on now (mobile by the way). It was too late to stop the order but the rep said he would wave the restocking fee. However, I was told that lenovo would take two months to process the check. I had not opened the T520.

Thanks guys for the replies. I did call the sales rep and it shows in their records that I called a day before the T520 shipped for a cancellation request and since it was their fault, they are giving me a 100% refund without the restocking fee.
I was so tempted to open this to look at the display (if I loved it that much I was going to just keep it and return the laptop @ microcenter).
But I am going to just keep the laptop from microcenter and just return this lappy. -
What did you get from microcenter?
Returning Lenovo laptop without opening box, no restocking fee?
