When I bought my R51 (4 years ago), it came with two 6-cell batteries and two power adapters (as part of a sale).

When my T500 arrives, will I be able to use the batteries and/or adapter?

The Lenovo accessories page states that the same battery is used in T and R series ThinkPads, but I suspect they mean ones that are Lenovo branded (e.g., T61/R61).

    The power adapter for my R51 is 72 W (16 V, 4.5 A). The T500 comes with a 90 W adapter, but the accessories page offers a 65 W adapter for it as well.

    Thanks in advance.

for the power adapter check the input and output volts and amps, and i f they are the same then yes. not sure about the battery but same idea.

this is just an example not what it's suppose to be
    input: 100-240V 50-60hz 1.0A
    output 12V 3A

the output is the most important, you don't want to overvolt the laptop. so compare the old one with the new one and if they are the same, you can use them.

I don't believe the batteries are compatible.

if the socket don't fit, then it's the wrong voltage and it won't work. still check voltage if it does fit.

    Thanks for all the info.

Because my shipment has been misplaced, perhaps Lenovo can throw-in an extra battery/adapter for free... wishful thinking :)
