    Hey all,

I just upgrade to a new 320GB Seagate drive and installed Win XP (pro). I installed all the drivers and everything is running fine. But the battery state doesn't show up (just a red X).

I have turn the laptop on without the battery in and then restarted with the battery installed but still isn't showing up.

Any help would be great :)

    Thanks

    SB

So not quite sure how I fixed it ... but battery % (state) is now showing up correctly.

    Things I did:

    - Took battery out and held power button down for 10-15 sec
    - Took battery out and power up only with AC Power
    - Went into bios (with battery in) - nothing in there about power management - don't waste your time
    - Took out new HD and put old HD back in
    - Plugged in AC power (orange led turned on) and power up machine - status now correct

Not sure which of these actually made the difference. But now everything is working (with the new HD in as well).

Moral of the story ... don't take the battery out unless you have to!
