A friend offered this to me. Should I take it? I want the laptop only to surf the web, take notes, play StarCraft I and use MS Word.

Is there any aftermarket battery I could buy to increase battery life? It also runs Windows 7, would XP increase battery life?

That seems like a good deal to me if that's all you want it for.

Here is an aftermarket 6 cell ( white black).

How long will that battery last me just during word processing?

It all depend on what the brightness level and power setting. I have a s10-2 with 6 cell and it last me for around 5-6 hrs on lowest brightness and the power saver mode. If you are buying the 6-cell batterry I would recommend wait for a sale on the new S10-3.

For 3 cell it last around 2+ hours.

some people have posted the average usage time is closer to 4 hours for web surfing and word processing. But 200 dollars is very cheap price for a netbook, even if it is a superseded one.
