SL series is already superseded by the L series.

So is the SL Series really just a rebadged Lenovo?

Lenovo is just a company, what you should be asking is whether the SL series is just a consumer grade laptop wearing a Thinkpad clothing. That depends on what you think Thinkpad ought to be.

There's a lot going on in the video. They seemed to want to point out the flaws, but it didn't seem that bad to me. If you want a classic ThinkPad and what comes with it, then buy a X, T or W series notebook. The SL are cheaper, which there's nothing wrong with, but you can't have it both ways. I think Lenovo is trying to extend the ThinkPad halo to these machine, which carries some risk with it. A SL still gets you ThinkPad support, which should be better than typical consumer grade notebook.

That flex is terrible, not acceptable on any laptop IMO.
Ive tested SL510 year ago and it had NO such terrible flexing as in this video.
    Indeed looks like baloon.
