I've noticed there are almost zero posts about this notebook. Seems like a completely decent little laptop, I'd love to hear people's opinions of it. I've read the official review but just want to hear more.

Anyone know how it compares to the T400? Is it worth getting for the smaller size?

I'm basically in the market for a small 13-14" laptop for photo, surfing, durability, extensive travel, and some 3d gaming here and there. How does the SL-300 hold up?

People don't like the SL series because it strays away (negatively) from many of the "classic" ThinkPad traditions - me included. I've seen some SLs in stores, they look really cheap (huge unfinished-looking bezel, a lot less tolerable than that on the X200) and being all plastic I'm not so sure its gonna be as durable as the other Thinkpad series. For your needs, I'd say get a T400 or X300 if you can afford the price and somewhat slower processor.

My two cents~ hope this helps

I think the SL300 looks interesting (13", hdmi, LED-backlit, better than avarage build quality, ~2kg etc). I wonder if it easy to upgrade the harddrive though, anyone know about this? It seems like the hdd is not easy to physically reach it in the review (I asked in that thread too).

Too bad that the touchpad is suppose to be very bad aswell as some squeaking in the plastic.

Go with the T400 if you can. In my opinion the SL series should not have been included in the Thinkpad line up and should have been in the Ideapad line up, as it seems more like a consumer laptop to me, not a business grade machine.

    - T400 is more durable than the SL500
    - The SL series is missing any roll cage design
    - The SL series is missing the spring loaded latch to close the screen. It closes with pressure. I personally hate this.
    - The SL series is glossy, so if you are sensitive to finger prints then this might be a concern
    - The SL series does not have the trademark Thinkpad steel hinges
    - The SL series doesn't have the Thinkvantage software

Add the keyboard to that list.
