I'm looking to buy a ThinkPad SL300 in the near future. Lenovo's general European website recognizes the models with P8xxx processor and 9300M GS graphics, but actually none of the web or store retailers have these models for sale. So practically I would be stuck with T5670 and integrated 4500HD graphics, which would kind of be a deal breaker for me.

So, I was wondering would it be possible to order a properly configured model from Lenovo US, as they seem to have plenty of options. Would Lenovo itself ship straight to Europe? (Somehow I doubt it...) Would it be possible and even more, legal, to have someone in the US buy it for me and then just ship to Europe? I'm not looking to avoid EU taxation nor abuse the cheap €-$ exchange rate, I just want the right configuration.

Lenovo will not ship you a notebook to Europe. If you know someone here I suppose they could forward in onto you, but it is unlikely you'll have warranty service in Europe. This may be of interest to you.
